WHO WE ARE

Organizations involved in the CCSC

Through the great networking power of IEL/CCS, a local school district, the state department of education and the local United Way were connected in January, 2023. This group began collaborating informally to provide Community Schools 101 presentations at relevant statewide conferences in 2023-2024. In May 2023 we held our first Colorado Coalition for Community Schools convening.

In October 2023 we held our first Colorado Coalition for Community Schools steering committee meeting.The steering committee is composed of representatives from local school districts who are interested in or implementing the community schools strategy, statewide organizations, government agencies, community-based organizations that support key elements of the strategy, and education advocacy organizations. The Colorado Coalition for Community Schools steering committee meets monthly to co-create our direction, definitions, priorities, and engage in subcommittee work.

OUR VISION

Colorado students are healthy and academically challenged in Community Schools. Students and families are engaged, supported, and feel safety and belonging in their school community.

In a community school, Colorado students and families are proud of their schools. The community shares ownership for the education, health, and success of all students.

• are helping systems align towards common outcomes
• are where communities/educators/families collaborate and work together to increase stability and success.
• create hubs of democracy where students and families feel heard and valued
• share power and decision-making processes in their school
• support the community and the community supports the school.
